Livsmedelsingenjör

Livsmedelsingenjör är en expert med kompetens inom livsmedelskunskap och livsmedelsteknik och kan bland annat arbeta med hygien- och kvalitetsfrågor inom livsmedelsområdet. Det innebär att du arbetar med att ständigt förfina och förbättra rutiner, göra riskbedömningar samt driva olika förbättringsprojekt.

Livsmedelsingenjör förväntas ofta vara företagets representant i hygienfrågor gentemot myndigheter och kontrollorgan och du håller också ofta internutbildningar för personalen. 

Som livsmedelsingenjör ingår du ofta i kvalitetsavdelningen där du tillsammans med kollegorna stödjer produktionsavdelningar och produktutvecklingen mot en än starkare marknadsposition. Livsmedelsingenjör är ofta underställd och rapporterar direkt till kvalitetschefen och förväntans även ta ansvar för kvalitetsavdelningen vid kvalitetschefens frånvaro.

Utbildning

För att kunna få jobb som livsmedelsingenjör krävs det livsmedelsteknisk utbildning på universitetsnivå. För behörighet till den utbildningen krävs det bland annat tvåårig tidigare yrkeserfarenhet från livsmedelsindustrin, livsmedelsbutik, storhushåll eller restaurang. 

Arbetsspråk är ofta engelska, därför krävs det att man har mycket goda kunskaper i engelska i tal och skrift. Livsmedelsingenjör behöver även ha goda kunskaper inom svensk livsmedelslagstiftning.

Grundläggande utbildning finns på flera av gymnasiets program.

Passande utbildningar finns även inom yrkeshögskolan.
