Vad är mediaplanering?
Mediaplanering handlar om att strategiskt välja de mest effektiva mediakanalerna för att kommunicera ett budskap till en specifik målgrupp. Syftet är att maximera kampanjens genomslag genom att nå rätt personer vid rätt tidpunkt – på rätt plats.
Val av mediakanaler – räckvidd, frekvens och genomslagskraft
När man arbetar med mediaplanering måste man ta hänsyn till flera faktorer, framför allt:
Räckvidd – hur många i målgruppen som nås
Frekvens – hur ofta målgruppen exponeras för budskapet
Genomslagskraft – hur effektiv kanalen är i att skapa engagemang och påverkan
En välplanerad mediestrategi anpassas efter målgruppens beteenden, vanor och preferenser, och kan omfatta allt från digitala annonser och sociala medier till traditionell media som TV, radio eller print.
En mediaplanerare arbetar ofta som en länk mellan marknadsstrategi och medieproduktion. Yrkesrollen finns inom flera branscher, till exempel reklam, kommunikation, PR och mediahus. Arbetet kan inkludera:
Val och bokning av mediekanaler
Målgruppsanalys och kampanjplanering
Uppföljning av kampanjresultat
Samarbete med kreatörer och analytiker
Mediaplanerare har ofta ett projektledaransvar, antingen inom en kampanj eller gentemot specifika kunder. Det innebär att samordna insatser, hålla budget och tidsramar samt säkerställa att kampanjens mål uppnås. Rollen kräver därför goda kommunikationsfärdigheter, organisationsförmåga och ett strategiskt tänkande.
Mediaplanerare kan kan olika utbildningsbakgrunder men ofta är de utbildade ekonomer eller har någon form av eftergymnasial utbildning inom områden Media och Reklam.
Bra förberedande grundutbildning finns på flera av gymnasieskolans program, bland annat på Estetiska programmet, inriktning Estetik och media, Samhällsvetenskapsprogrammet, inriktning Medier, Information och kommunikation eller på Ekonomiprogrammet, inriktning Ekonomi.
Motsvarande förberedande utbildning för vuxna kan finnas inom Komvux.
