System Owner, Brakes and Pneumatics

Are you an experienced and curious Engineer with a passion for technical solutions? Do you like understanding and exploring new domains in product development and sharing your passion with your colleagues? Good, then continue reading, we have an opportunity for you.

What kind of challenge you might wonder?

The wind is changing within the automotive industry and electrification as well as automation are constantly challenging us in how we develop and sell our products. It also pushes us to explore what’s outside of that comfortable and famous “box” in order to find solutions and opportunities that will shape the future of public transportation.

And it is in the middle of all this that Volvo Buses needs you. You, who are creative, driven and can lead and guide this development from the driver’s seat through collaboration, enthusiasm and passion.

This is us, your new colleagues

Our team currently consists of 12 engineers with different professional backgrounds, interests and history but with one common mindset: To develop our products and ourselves!

In our group, we focus on development of brakes, pneumatics, steering, suspension and engine suspension. Having a global responsibility, the solutions developed within the team can be found in Volvo buses all over the world helping millions of people every day to reach their destination. Imagine that as a legacy!

In our global responsibility, we cooperate with our sites in Poland, Mexico, and Brazil, as well as with our Volvo-owned brands Prevost and Nova in North America. Together, we secure knowledge transfer and competence development in an effort to become an even higher performing team consisting of highly passionate people.

What can we propose?

As System Owner for the Brakes and Pneumatics system you will be a part of the Vehicle Dynamics and Pneumatics Group within the Chassis and Driveline department. You will work in close cooperation with skilled engineers in the group as well as cross-functionally with other functions.

You will lead world-class design and development of brakes and pneumatics and take on a significant role in the future development of our new bus models and optimization of current buses.

The role includes varying tasks within the design area from system requirement to detailed design as well as strategic work to secure long term development. You will work in various engineering projects and be involved in all phases of the product development process, from advanced engineering to aftermarket. Ensuring high standards, the role requires good networking ability and close contact with our stakeholders.

And this is you

You’re an experienced design engineer, working within the automotive industry or similar, with particular skills in product development. Since you will be working with brakes and pneumatics, skills within brakes, compressed air and embedded system development will be especially valued. So will also knowledge of Volvo systems and processes.

As a part of our group, we see that you are at first most a team player with excellent communication and cooperation skills. Since you have good engineering judgment and priorities, you have the ability and interest to technically support, lead and challenge colleagues in their work and their mindset. You like to share your passion for technical solutions, and you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a person you are positive, you display driving force and have a structured way of working.

Are we the perfect match?

So how does this sound? Are you prepared to join us at Volvo Buses and be part of the company’s future? Why not pay us a visit here in Arendal for a coffee, a chat or maybe a walk along the seaside to discuss more what we can offer you!

Diversity is very important for us at Volvo Buses, therefore we strongly encourage women to apply to this position.
