Lediga job som Högskoleingenjör

The role

We're looking for an Optics Engineering Lead with systems design experience. You'll work across the full life cycle — from early concept and simulation through to production validation — partnering with our hardware, software, and clinical teams to make sure our imaging delivers diagnostic-grade results at scale.

At Neko, optics is a key discipline. It's a hands-on role with real responsibility, on a team that moves fast and builds things that matter.

What you'll do

• Design and simulate optical systems for medical imaging using Zemax.
• Coordinate system design needs with other functions.
• Set optical specifications, tolerances, and acceptance criteria together with our mechanical and electrical engineers.
• Work with component vendors to qualify parts, manage supply, and balance cost against performance.
• Lead the development of illumination systems, imaging optics, and structured-light or laser-based subsystems.
• Take designs from prototype to production — including tolerance stack-up analysis, test plans, and manufacturing yield.
• Measure optical system performance through MTF analysis, stray-light testing, and other metrology.
• Work closely with our software and AI teams so the optical design matches what image processing needs downstream.
• Contribute to design documentation, risk analysis, and regulatory submissions under ISO 13485, EU MDR, and eye-safety standards.

What we're looking for

Required:

• Degree in optical engineering, photonics, applied physics, or a closely related field.

• Hands-on experience designing and building real optical systems — prototypes that became products.

• Deep knowledge of imaging optics, lens design, and illumination engineering.

• Experience with optomechanical integration and a feel for thermal and mechanical tolerances.

• Comfortable writing optical test protocols, interpreting MTF curves, and characterizing system performance.

• Strong collaboration skills — you can turn optical constraints into clear requirements other teams can act on.

• A solid understanding of systems-level design.

• Uses AI as a working tool to speed up research, documentation, and routine analysis, while knowing where judgement can't be outsourced.

Preferred:

• Experience in medical imaging, industrial inspection, or other regulated imaging environments.

• Familiarity with ISO 13485 or EU MDR medical device quality systems.

• Familiarity with IEC 60825-1 or similar eye safety standards.

• Background in structured light, time-of-flight, or multi-spectral imaging.

• Experience working with volume manufacturing processes for optical assemblies.

• Knowledge of image quality metrics beyond MTF — noise, dynamic range, colour accuracy.

• Proficiency with optical design software (Zemax OpticStudio or similar).

Why join this team at Neko

Working with optics at Neko puts you in the frontline of product development. Together with your team, you own the optical architecture end to end, on products that genuinely don't exist anywhere else. Neko is its own customer, we develop instruments for our own clinics only.

The team is small and senior. Five people, all at lead level, which means high trust, broad ownership, and no one to hide behind. If you've outgrown environments where optics is a sub-function of something bigger, this is the alternative.

We work with problems connected to real health issues, so you have a chance to make a real impact on peoples lives, using high-end optical solutions.

In addition, you will work shoulder-to-shoulder with hardware, software, and clinical teams in Stockholm, with real influence over how the product is built, not just the optics slice of it.

We are looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join our growing tech development team, building products for the financial industry. Much of the risk, compliance and regulatory work in financial services still runs on spreadsheets and manual reconciliation. We are building the intelligence platform that changes that, and we need engineers who can build it and put it into production for clients.

We are hiring two Forward Deployed AI Engineers for our tech development team. Forward deployed means you own a module from design to a client running it: you develop on our platform, deploy it in live environments used by clients, connect their data, get the numbers right and hand over something their risk and finance teams use every day. Some weeks are pure product engineering/development; others are spent working downstream with client environments, client data and their stakeholders.

Advisense is building the next generation intelligence on Palantir Foundry, working side by side with Advisense’s regulatory specialists, the people who understand what the numbers are and the regulations mean. The work spans data ingestion and pipelines, backend logic, APIs and user interfaces, across areas such as credit risk, capital, AML, KYC and regulatory reporting.

AI is an integral part of how we work. Claude Code, Codex and Foundry’s AI tooling are part of our working day, while AI is also embedded in the products we build. You are expected to use AI effectively and critically, while taking responsibility for understanding, validating, testing and maintaining everything you deliver.

As part of our tech development team, you will:

• Take modules from technical design through implementation, release, monitoring and iteration.

• Implement modules at clients, including data onboarding, integration, validation and go-live.

• Build data pipelines, backend services, APIs and frontend applications.

• Turn complex financial and regulatory requirements into clear and useful product features.

• Build AI-enabled workflows with appropriate evaluation, monitoring and human oversight.

• Work closely with product owners, senior engineers, regulatory consultants and client teams.

Background and Experience

• Professional proficiency in both Python and TypeScript.

• Experience building and maintaining production software.

• Experience building polished user interfaces together with product teams.

• Practical experience with APIs, data modelling, integrations and data pipelines.

• Experience deploying, monitoring and troubleshooting applications in production.

• Hands-on experience building applications with AI and an effective AI-assisted development workflow.

• A strong approach to testing, maintainability, security and privacy.
• Comfortable working directly with clients and their data.

• Professional proficiency in English. Swedish is appreciated but not required.

Experience with Palantir Foundry is a strong plus. Experience from financial services, GRC, AML, KYC, credit risk or another regulated environment is beneficial but not required.

Who you are

We are looking for a pragmatic and self-driven engineer who enjoys taking ownership from idea to production. You do not need to be an expert in every layer – what matters is that you are comfortable working broadly, learn quickly and approach unfamiliar problems pragmatically.

You use AI tools critically and take responsibility for the quality of what you deliver. You also enjoy working close to the business and the client, understanding their needs and turning complex requirements into solutions that work in practice.

You will join a small, collaborative development team where you will deliver modules and client implementations independently, with support from senior engineers, product owners and Advisense’s regulatory specialists.

Additional Information

We review applications continuously, so don’t wait—apply as soon as you’re ready! As long as the job posting is live, the position is still available.

Our selection process is designed to highlight your strengths through interviews, a technical case and reference checks. We focus on competencies throughout the process and strive to make your experience as smooth as possible by keeping you informed along the way.

To comply with GDPR regulations, we do not accept applications via email. Please submit your application through the official application portal.
