We are currently seeking a hepatologist with at least five years of experience as a specialist physician to join a highly specialized team at one of Sweden’s leading university-affiliated hospitals. This opportunity offers the chance to work with complex liver disease, transplantation medicine, and tertiary-level care in a modern and research-oriented environment.

About the department

The department is one of the largest and most specialized units within gastroenterology and hepatology in the Nordic region. It provides both emergency and elective care and works closely with several highly specialized disciplines.

You will become part of an international team of approximately ten specialist physicians with diverse professional backgrounds and areas of expertise. Collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous development are central to the department's culture.

The unit manages a broad spectrum of hepatology cases, including advanced liver disease and liver transplantation, while maintaining a strong focus on clinical excellence, education, and research.

Your role

As a specialist in gastroenterology and hepatology, you will:

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with complex liver diseases
• Participate in both outpatient and inpatient hepatology care
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams involved in advanced liver treatment and transplantation
• Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior colleagues and medical students
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental development
• Take part in on-call duties together with experienced colleagues

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who has:

• EU-recognized specialist certification in Gastroenterology and Hepatology
• At least five years of experience working as a specialist physician
• Experience in hepatology and management of advanced liver diseases
• Experience related to liver transplantation
• Strong communication skills in English and a willingness to learn Swedish
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

Research experience, academic involvement, or a PhD is considered an advantage.
