Want to build the cloud platform that powers digital access for hotels around the world?

Every day, hotels rely on secure digital access to manage guests, staff, and connected services. At ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions in Stockholm, our Hospitality R&D team develops the cloud-native platforms behind there experiences.

We are looking for you, who wants to take ownership, work close to the product, and build solutions used by hospitality customers across the globe. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while working in a collaborative team that values innovation and continuous development.

What you would do as our Backend Developer

You would help design, build, and evolve the cloud-based services that power digital access, permissions, and identity management across our Vostio hospitality platform. Your work would span software development, cloud infrastructure, production operations, and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to contribute to a critical product area. You would join a small, high-impact team responsible for the services, APIs, and integrations that enable hotels to manage access rights and user identities securely.

  You would also:

  • Build cloud-native backend services — Design and develop Kotlin-based services that support digital access, permissions, and identity management.

  • Own core platform functionality — Deliver features that enable hotels to manage access rights, user permissions, and authentication capabilities from design through production.

  • Build APIs and integrations — Create and evolve APIs, integrations, and microservice-based capabilities that connect products, customers, and internal systems across the hospitality ecosystem.• Design cloud-native solutions on AWS — Build scalable and resilient services using AWS, automation, and modern CI/CD practices.

  • Take responsibility beyond coding — You would be involved in technical design discussions, production support, continuous improvement initiatives, and helping shape how the platform evolves over time.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience building backend systems in Kotlin, Java, or Golang.

  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying and operating solutions in AWS.

  • Experience with microservice-based, distributed, or integration-heavy systems, including strong API design skills.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering practices, combined with a pragmatic engineering mindset.

  • The ability to simplify complex technical problems, communicate clearly, and take ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have: AWS services such as Cognito, ECS, SNS/SQS or CloudFormation; experience with SaaS platforms, or access management solutions.

  Why developers join and stay

  • Small team, meaningful impact. Every engineer contributes directly to product decisions, technical solutions, and delivery.

  • End-to-end ownership. You'll work on features from idea through production and see the impact of your work firsthand.

  • Modern technology stack. The role focuses on Kotlin, AWS, cloud-native services, microservices, and automation.• Product-focused development. Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to solve real customer challenges.

  • Stockholm-based team with global reach, the systems you build are used by hotels around the world every day.

  What we offer

We're passionate about providing opportunities and benefits that support your development and long-term success. Here's what we have to offer:

  • Learning and career development opportunities, whether through online learning, technical training, or new challenges.

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Hybrid working and a collaborative engineering environment.• The opportunity to contribute to innovative products used by customers around the world.

We review applications regularly, so don't wait

We are building diverse, inclusive teams and encourage applications from everyone who can see themselves working with us.

To make sure your personal data is safe, we don't review applications sent by email or post. If you have any questions about the role or the process, please contact Léa Rein, Senior Talent Acquisition Business Partner, at lea.rein@assaabloy.com.

Depending on the risk profile for the role, a background screening may need to be performed. Final candidates may therefore be subject to a background screening. The performance of a background check is subject to consent and based on our Applicant Privacy Notice.

  Om jobbet

Build the backend that connects the future of secure access.

As a Senior Back-end Developer, you will join our skilled, international team of developers based in Stockholm, dedicated to building next-generation products and access control solutions that enable identity, authentication and access experiences for customers worldwide.

  Why this role matters

At ASSA ABLOY, technology plays a direct role in creating safer, more open environments. Your work will help make sure different product components can communicate and work together reliably — turning individual technologies into complete access solutions.

This is a role for someone who enjoys more than simply implementing requirements. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to architecture, solve challenging backend and integration problems, and continuously improve both the software and the way the team works.

  The role

You’ll join a small and strongly connected team working in a highly self-organised agile environment. The team values close collaboration, open discussion and learning from one another, with approaches such as pair programming and mob programming forming part of how you work together.

You’ll take ownership of backend development and integrations, from designing solutions through to implementation, testing and continuous improvement. You’ll also contribute to technical discussions and decisions, while having the independence to explore problems and find solutions before bringing others in.

  What you’ll work on

  • Build and evolve backend services — develop high-quality software using Golang and modern software engineering practices, with a focus on distributed systems and product connectivity.
  • Develop APIs and integrations — create and maintain REST APIs and modern integration patterns that connect different product components.
  • Shape technical solutions — contribute to software architecture, object-oriented design and decisions around scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Strengthen software quality — work with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and code reviews to help deliver reliable software.
  • Solve complex problems — troubleshoot and improve existing solutions while looking for practical ways to make the product and development process better.
  • Work closely with the team — collaborate through pair and mob programming, share knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

  What will help you succeed

  • 5+ years of backend software development experience, including designing and delivering production-grade applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Golang as a programming language, together with experience building distributed systems, APIs or backend services.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and object-oriented design, including REST APIs and modern integration patterns.
  • Experience with modern development practices, particularly CI/CD, automated testing and code reviews.
  • A collaborative and curious mindset — you enjoy learning from others, sharing knowledge and remaining open to new ideas, technologies and perspectives. You see change as an opportunity to improve products, processes and team effectiveness.

Nice to have: Some experience with the .NET ecosystem.

  Why ASSA ABLOY

You’ll join a global organisation where you can work on technology with a real-world purpose, while having the trust and freedom to shape how you contribute. You’ll be part of a small team where collaboration is close, ideas are welcome and continuous improvement is part of everyday work.

  • Meaningful mission — Build software that helps connect secure access solutions used in real-world environments around the world.
  • Innovation & scale — Develop your expertise across distributed systems, backend services, integrations and modern software engineering within a global technology organisation.
  • Autonomy & trust — Work in a self-organised team where you’re encouraged to take ownership, explore solutions and influence technical decisions.
  • Growth & development — Learn from experienced colleagues, contribute across the technology stack and continuously develop your technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Work–life balance — Work from Stockholm in a hybrid setup, within a Scandinavian culture built around collaboration, trust and sustainable ways of working.
