Assignment Description

We are looking for a Senior Confluent Platform Specialist / Kafka Engineer

What You Will Work On

• Implement, configure, and develop Confluent Platform and Confluent Cloud
• Evaluate and establish Confluent Cloud as a complement to the existing Kafka platform
• Automate platform installation, configuration, provisioning, and lifecycle management
• Develop a unified integration platform together with Red Hat AMQ Broker and other platforms
• Improve Developer Experience through:
• Automation
• Self-service
• Standardized processes
• Integrate platform capabilities with Backstage
• Support developer onboarding, documentation, and self-service platform provisioning
• Implement and manage:
• Kafka Connect
• Schema Registry
• Kafka Brokers
• Cluster Linking
• RBAC
• ACLs
• Ensure high availability, security, reliability, and operational stability
• Perform monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Support capacity planning and platform lifecycle management
• Implement Kafka security including authentication, authorization, certificates, encryption, and Identity Provider integrations
• Work with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Git, and CI/CD
• Collaborate closely with development teams and provide technical guidance
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing

What You Bring

• Several years of hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and managing Confluent Platform in production
• Practical experience with Confluent Cloud
• Deep knowledge of Apache Kafka and Confluent platform components
• Strong experience with:
• Kafka Brokers
• Kafka Connect
• Schema Registry
• Cluster Linking
• RBAC
• ACL
• Experience operating Confluent Platform on Red Hat OpenShift
• Experience with Confluent for Kubernetes (CFK) is highly valuable
• Strong Kafka Connect experience, including connectors and common integration patterns
• Experience automating platforms using:
• Terraform
• Git
• CI/CD
• Experience with monitoring, logging, capacity planning, and Kafka performance optimization
• Strong knowledge of Kafka and Confluent security
• Experience building Developer Experience through automation, self-service, and standardization
• Good understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and resilient platform architecture
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to development teams
